Horsin Around - Level 1
We are finalizing dates with horse ranches. Check back before your session to get the accurate horse ranch waivers in addition to our Girl Scout waiver. All three must be read, signed and brought to Camp Check-In:
This five-night program will take you to two ranches for at least 6 hours of working with horses. The ranch staff will teach you the basics about riding and horse care. You will learn how to mount, dismount and control your horse.
What do I need to wear at the horse ranch?
Clothing: While you ride, you will need to wear long pants, like jeans, and sturdy shoes or boots with a defined 1/2 - 1 inch heel. These will help keep your legs and feet protected while at the ranch, while not allowing slippage in the stirrups.
Bring a pair of shoes/boots with a 1/2 - 1 inch heel. Please no heels higher than one inch and no boots with lug soles.
On your head: Helmets must also be worn at all times when working with the horses. These are provided by the ranch.
Which horse will I get?
Each ranch we use has many horses and ponies, so the ranch staff can match horse size and temperament to each camper.
We will use a chartered school bus or a trained and qualified staff member may drive a 12 passenger van for transportation to the ranches.
