The Juliette Gordon Low (JGL) Society is a planned giving opportunity. It was established to thank friends of Girl Scouts who choose to make GSWISE part of their legacy and a beneficiary of their estate plans. Planned gifts make such a difference in our council’s income as it reduces the overall dependence on annual giving, cookies sales, and grants, bringing Girl Scouts to even more girls.
At the National Girl Scout Convention, Girl Scout supporters Dianne Belk and Lawrence Calder, and Erik and Eva Andersen announced two JGL Society challenges of 1.65 million to encourage planned gifts to GSWISE. Dianne gave an elegant and powerful presentation talking about her 64 years of involvement in the Girl Scout Movement. She asked the audience if anyone had considered making a planned gift, then invited them on stage. Many supporters came forward and became members of the JGL Society on the spot!
GSWISE is proud to have found its own “Dianne,” in our alum, Karen Bitzan. She is a member of the JGL Society and has been a Girl Scout volunteer for more than 30 years. As our JGL Society Champion, Karen will share her Girl Scout story with others, along with her passion for our mission, and will encourage others to include GSWISE in their estate plans.
When GSWISE reaches the challenge of finding eight new JGL Society, we will receive a $10,000 planned gift from Dianne and Lawrence and, a $4,000 planned gift from Erik and Eva.
And when you join the JGL Society, you will:
- Be invited to special recognition and educational events
- Receive the JGL Society newsletter
- Be listed as a JGL Society member in Girl Scout publications
- Receive a special membership lapel pin
Can you help us reach our goal and ensure Girl Scouts will be available to future generations?
