Jo Ann Mann Lodge (Jo’s Lodge) at Silverbrook Program Center in West Bend

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast have already begun to take notice of their newest program facility, the Jo Ann Mann Lodge at Silverbrook Program Center in West Bend. The last of three capital campaign projects (following the Alice Chester Center Lodge and Welcome Center in East Troy, WI) — Jo’s Lodge on the shores of Lucas Lake is all it was promised to be!

Nearly 8,000 square feet of girls’ space on two levels!  There is plenty of room for two troops to use concurrently.  Each level has its own kitchen, bathrooms, showers, and bunk room.  Private patios and decks gently transition access to the outdoors.   The combined levels can accommodate a total capacity of 80 people.  The facility will support year-round arts and environmental programs, plus the summer camp office and health center.

Construction of the lakeside facility, formerly Hawthorne Hill troop house, began in spring of 2007.  Uihlein-Wilson Architects of Milwaukee designed the facility.  Jansen Group, Inc. of Milwaukee performed the construction management services. In addition to the generosity of the namesake, Jo Ann Mann Family, significant contributions were garnered locally.  Sale of an Ice Age Trail corridor easement supported nearly half of the $1.3 million dollar facility.
