This past July, the plans from 14+ months of work by the Girls’ World Forum planning team came to fruition. In Chicago from July 12-17, approximately 450 girls and young women from around the world came to be educated on three United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals. The goals are to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, to achieve and promote gender equality, and to ensure environmental sustainability. The participants identified issues in their communities and created solutions based upon this. Each girl then took this information and formed sustainable Take Action plans to implement locally, empowered with the tools to create and execute further Take Actions at national and international levels.
