Whether you’re discovering the wildlife in your own backyard, swimming in a lake for the first time at summer camp, or being a citizen scientist observing bees in your neighborhood park, every outdoor adventure grows your “I’ve got this” attitude. And once you unlock that confidence, you’ll aim as high as the stars you see outside your cabin window. Girl Scout summer camps and troop camping are a great way for you to seek challenges, explore on adventures, learn new skills, make new friends, and develop a deep appreciation for nature.

Make New Friends
There’s nothing quite like giggling over games in the bunk or singing songs with new besties around a campfire. That’s why it’s actually good to go to camp where you might not know many (or any) other Girl Scouts! Having a diverse group of friends, not just kids you know from school, will broaden your horizons and help you see your own worth, too.
Be All You Can Be
Surrounded by the support of friends old and new, Girl Scouts are more comfortable trying new outdoor activities at summer camp. And you get to take the lead every single time—meaning there’s plenty of room at the top for you to take charge and flex your muscles, both when it comes to outdoor adventure and crucial leadership skills that will last a lifetime.
Tune In to Nature
Getting out in nature, soaking up the sun, or dashing inside during a sudden downpour is way more exciting than any phone app you have—and is all part of the adventure of camp. Unplugging for a while keeps you more present and truly enjoying every moment instead of simply watching it from a screen.
Meet New Mentors
Having a variety of awesome role models helps you see many different ways to be successful and happy in life. And the incredibly supportive staff and counselors at your summer camp are ready to step up to the plate and inspire (and we’re pretty sure they’ll learn a thing or two from you, too)!
