GSWISE Update - Mask Wearing at Summer Camps

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast is excited to welcome girls back to the Girl Scout summer camp experience. As we return to in-person camps, the safety and security of campers and staff are our top priorities, and we know that some parents/guardians have questions and concerns about COVID-19 precautions.

The CDC recently issued mask and social distancing guidelines for summer campers; though the CDC has specified that youth campers do not need to wear masks outdoors at this time, Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast is asking that all camp participants, including staff, wear masks indoors, as well as outdoors when in close proximity to one another and/or with outside resident cohorts. This decision will reduce confusion and speculation about individual vaccination status and allow participants to focus on enjoying their camp experience. Please note that there are some exclusions and/or exceptional circumstances that may apply.

If you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Care Team at 800-565-4475 or customercare@gswise.org for guidance on how best to handle these circumstances as they arise and to learn more.

At Girl Scouts, girls find a safe space where they are free to be themselves, giving her a summer home away from home! Many Girl Scouts report that camp was one of the best things about their Girl Scout experience. Camping is a great way for girls to explore leadership, build skills, and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Whether for a day, a week, or longer, Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun in a supporting all-girl, girl-led enviroment.

The safety of our campers, staff and volunteers is, and always will be, paramount. For more information regarding how we will work together to keep our community healthy in an COVID-19 environment, please see our most frequently asked camp questions (FAQs) on page 5 of this year's Summer Camp booklet.

We can't wait to see your girl at camp this year!

Camp Alice Chester Overnight
Camp Sessions are three or more nights and each has a special focus. Camp Alice Chester is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream come true! Girls sleep in a troop house, A-frame cabin, or platform tent, located in East Troy.
