Along the way, you’ll build your own confidence, strengthen your leadership skills, and connect with a supportive community that shares your passion.

Volunteer as a troop leader: Guide a group of Girl Scouts by creating a fun, safe space. We’ll help you get started with easy-to-use tools like the Girl Scout Experience Box and ready-made Troop Year Plans so you can focus on fun, growth, and connection.

Be a supportive adult volunteer: Help girls thrive by assisting with meetings, activities, or special events, no matter your schedule or experience.

Get involved on your terms. Choose a role that fits your time and interests—from leading a troop to lending a hand behind the scenes.

No previous experience is required to support girls as they build confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships through the Girl Scout experience. Your local Girl Scout Council can help get you started.

Ways to Volunteer

Whether you can give a few hours, a few weeks, or a few months, volunteering with Girl Scouts is flexible and fun.

We encourage our Girl Scout volunteers to become members to support the Girl Scouting mission. Financial assistance is available.

All volunteers must pass a background check (cost covered by the council).

Troop Leader toggle arrow

Mentor a group of Girl Scouts as they make new friends and go on adventures! Troops require two co-leaders.

Helping Hands toggle arrow

Plan activities, drive, manage troop finances, and help with other tasks necessary to keep the troop running smoothly from week to week.

Troop Treasurer toggle arrow

Work with troop co-leaders to establish and manage the troop's budget and checking account within the council's procedures and guidelines.

Product Program Help toggle arrow

Help Girl Scouts reach their goals in our annual Fall Product and Cookie Programs!

Fall Product Managers and Cookie Captains manage troop fall product and cookie inventory, including pick-up at council offices and distribution to families. You will also help set up cookie booths for your troop.

By helping your troop have a successful season, they'll earn funds for the Girl Scout year and develop life skills such as goal-setting, decision-making, teamwork, people skills, and business ethics.

Troop Mentor toggle arrow

Provide guidance, support, and resources to new and existing troop leaders to make sure troops are managed successfully and in adherence to Girl Scout policies. Mentor troop leaders, assist with problem-solving, and promote a positive and enriching experience for both leaders and troop members.

The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $90 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Additional local fees and discounts may apply. Financial aid may be available. Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.
