We’re celebrating Camp Alice Chester’s 100th birthday by looking back at Girl Scout camp history and the Girl Scouts who shaped it.
Today, we’re looking back over the last few years to hear from Girl Scout volunteer and troop leader Michelle Kurtz and volunteer and alum Audrey Fictum.
Not only do I have wonderful summer camp memories from when I was a young Girl Scout, I have been given the opportunity to create memories with my two daughters at camp with the My Girls and Mom overnights at Camp Alice Chester.
These events have given my girls the chance to explore camp in a fun and welcoming way. I love seeing them explore their abilities on the rock climbing wall and explore their creative side in the craft hut.
These are moments we will all cherish for a lifetime.

It was pouring rain, and my unit had already gotten drenched from just going to the challenge course. To distract them from the fact that all of us were cold and had no dry clothes, I sang “Boom Chicka Boom” with them under our shade fly for nearly an hour. I lost my voice from that, and I also learned that you will never run out of “Boom Chicka Boom” lines!
