Silver Award Project: Memory Mats for Seniors with Dementia

Helen supported seniors with dementia at Azura Assisted Living and Memory Care of Brookfield at Mierow Farm by designing and hand-sewing five different themed sensory mats. Featuring zippers, Velcro, and soft fabrics, the mats provide tactile stimulation, comfort, and engagement during scheduled sensory activities. Facility staff observed enhanced engagement, interaction, and comfort among residents using the sensory mats.
