MILWAUKEE – (January 30, 2025) – Today, Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast (GSWISE) announced an exciting partnership with the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) to provide a scholarship opportunity exclusively for Gold Award Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts who qualify are eligible to receive $16,000-26,000 per year (renewable for four years).
The Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and recognizes 9th-12th grade Girl Scouts who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership through sustainable community service projects. Gold Award Girl Scouts identify issues in their community, take action, and create meaningful, lasting impact locally and beyond.
Gold Award Girl Scouts become innovative problem-solvers, empathetic leaders, confident public speakers, and focused project managers. As they take action to transform their communities, Gold Award Girl Scouts gain tangible skills and prove they’re the leaders our world needs. They learn resourcefulness, tenacity, and decision-making skills, giving them an edge personally and professionally. This scholarship is another way Gold Award Girl Scouts stand out.
“MIAD’s investment in our Gold Award Girl Scouts is a direct investment back into the community, driving the retention of top scholastic talent in our region,” said Ana Simpson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. “This scholarship is another step in recognizing the incredible work of Gold Award Girl Scouts who are changing the world for the better.”
MIAD is offering the Merit Scholarship to Gold Award Girl Scouts who provide documentation confirming membership with GSWISE and their Gold Award status. This scholarship is contingent upon an unweighted academic GPA of 3.0 or higher and a submitted application. Girl Scouts are eligible to receive $16,000-26,000 per year for four years.
“We are proud to offer additional scholarship opportunities to future students through the Girl Scouts, an organization that seeks to build courage, confidence, and character, and whose contemporary values mirror those of our college in seeking to make the world a better place for all,” said Jeffrey Morin, President of MIAD.
